Necropsies

In the first two years of the project, CREDIMA (IZSPLVA) intervened to carry out post-mortem surveys on the three bottlenose dolphins stranded in Liguria (one in 2022 and two in 2023). The application of the Diagnostic Framework for Interaction with Fishing Activity (https://accobams.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/A3_Framework_Fihery_interaction.pdf), which allows signs of interaction to be assessed with a reasonable margin of confidence and accuracy, allowed the presence of interaction with fishing to be excluded for the subject stranded in 2022. As for the two bottlenose dolphins stranded and necropsied in 2023, no interaction is suspected, although some investigations are still ongoing.
